So, a devastating earthquake has given a rough but very powerful start to the movie Kick. But there’s still much more to come as the fight for survival for these characters and their families is well worth it. The movie begins with a disruptive earthquake that causes serious damage in Mexico City, and instantly changes Lila's life. She's on her way home from school when she finds herself trapped inside her car, where two of the windows are broken, and she can't get out of this danger zone. The car is eventually rescued by a passing truck driver, but not before Lila hears the screams of her mother screaming for help. The truck driver steps into the car to rescue Lila's mother, but loses his grip on her. Lila manages to escape the safety of the car after hearing her mother's screams, finding herself in an unfamiliar place with only a rope to escape from the wreckage. Lila begins to make her way through the debris and ends up lost in what seems like a wasteland of buildings and roads completely ruined by the earthquake.She meets a neighbor who tells her that they are refugees from Mexico City living in tents in their neighborhood. Lila learns that her mother is being treated for injuries in the local civic hospital, but the impact of the earthquake has caused all kinds of damage leaving little hope for her recovery. A character named Leon appeared to Lila at times during the day. He seemed to have saved her from being shot during a gunfight between Mexican soldiers and drug traffickers, although his true identity is still unknown. When Lila goes into town to ask for directions to the hospital, she spots Leon again. He helps her by taking her into Mexico City where she can see her mother. After walking up to the hospital, Lila and Leon meet a group of street kids living on the streets and sharing their tents with them. After seeing her mother, Lila is escorted back to Leon's house which is located in Mexico City. There, Leon reveals that he is a former spy for the Mexican military and that his mission was to protect Lila but ended up putting her life in danger by taking her into Mexico City where the drug traffickers were planning another attack on Lila. Leon explains that he found out about this mission early on and tried to alert higher authority but his pleas fell on deaf ears and caused him and his family to be forced into hiding. During the night, a group of drug traffickers attacked Lila's temporary residence searching for her. But they were not able to find Lila and her family after Leon and the neighbors fought back the attackers. Lila is taken to a government shelter where she meets a young boy named Cristián who is an orphaned child from the Mexico City earthquake. Cristián befriends Lila and helps her recover from her ordeal in Mexico City. They became very close friends during their stay in this shelter. cfa1e77820
